WatchGuard Firebox T15 and T15-W Reach End-of-Life in March 2027

WHAT WAS ANNOUNCED?

On 1 March 2022, WatchGuard announced the End-of-Sale (EOS) and End-of-Life (EOL) timelines for the Firebox T15 and T15-W appliances. These entry-level firewalls have since been superseded by newer models that provide improved performance, enhanced security capabilities, and support for modern connectivity requirements.

March 2027 marks the official end of support for both devices. After this date, organisations running a T15 or T15-W will no longer benefit from software updates, security enhancements, or vendor support. With March 2027 rapidly approaching, businesses should begin planning their migration strategy now to ensure a smooth transition and avoid running critical network infrastructure on unsupported hardware.

WHY DOES END OF LIFE MATTER?

When a firewall reaches end of life, it doesn't suddenly stop working. However, the protection and support behind it effectively comes to an end.

Organisations continuing to operate unsupported network security appliances may face:

- No security patches for newly discovered vulnerabilities
- No technical support from WatchGuard
- Hardware replacement challenges if a fault occurs
- Reduced compatibility with future technologies
- Increased compliance and cyber insurance concerns

Your firewall sits at the edge of your network and is often the first line of defence against cyber threats. Ensuring it remains fully supported is an important part of maintaining a secure IT environment.

RECOMMENDED MIGRATION

While the direct successor to the Firebox T15 and T15-W is the Firebox T115 series, selecting a replacement should not be based on model numbers alone.Every organisation has unique requirements. User count, VPN usage, internet connectivity, cloud adoption, and future growth plans all play a role in determining the most appropriate firewall platform. At Central IT Solutions Ltd, we assess your environment and recommend the right Firebox appliance based on your current requirements and future business objectives, ensuring your investment remains effective for years to come.
